Ear Center: Hearing Aid Questions & Answers

Questions and Answers Concerning Purchasing a Hearing Aid At
The Ear Center of Greensboro, P.A.

v. 1.17

How do I know which hearing aid is best for me?

We will make an appointment for you to return to The Ear Center to discuss hearing aid options with an audiologist.  Your appointment will last approximately 1 hour. If a comprehensive hearing test is required, there will be a charge. You are encouraged to bring a family member or friend with you to the appointment.  Although you will not be fit with a hearing aid at the appointment, you will receive expert counseling concerning your options and the most appropriate amplification for your specific hearing loss.

Will I leave The Ear Center with a hearing aid on the day of the evaluation?

No.  We custom order all hearing aids, as it is not possible to stock all of the various types, styles, and features that are
available.

When will I be fit with the hearing aid?

Depending on the style of aid that you order, you will be asked to return to The Ear Center in 2 days to 2 weeks, depending or appointment availability, for custom programming and fitting of your selected hearing aid(s).

Do I have to pay for the hearing aid?

Yes.  You will be required to pay the full balance owed for your hearing aid(s), along with a non-refundable professional fee of $250.00, on the day that you are fit with your device(s).

Is there a trial period with the hearing aid?

Yes.  You will have at least a 30-day trial period to try the hearing aid in your daily environment in order to make a determination as to whether you wish to keep the aid(s)

What happens if I do not like the hearing aid and wish to return it?

You may return the hearing aid(s) for a full refund of the cost of the aid(s) during the 30-day trial period.

Are any fees non-refundable?

Yes.  There is a non-refundable professional fee (not included in the cost of the hearing aid) of $250.  The fee covers the services that were provided to you during your trial period as well as shipping & handling.

Will you file with my insurance for the cost of the hearing aids?

Although insurance does not typically pay for hearing aids, please check your specific policy for coverage details.  We are happy to file with your insurance. However, we require that you pay the entire balance owed on the day of your fitting.  Any reimbursement received from your insurance will be mailed to you as a refund.

Please contact our audiologists at 336-273-9932 if you have any additional questions.
